Supply Chain Management Failure
Filed in archive News on May 14, 2011

© bade_mdCompanies face more risks in a world of globalized supply chain management, ranging from the rising cost of raw materials to the extensive disruption caused by natural disasters like the earthquake in Japan. This event has highlighted the need for companies to look further upstream, beyond first-tier suppliers to take in all level of suppliers and contractors when assessing supply chain failure risks.
And this assessment must consider not only the supply chain, but the infrastructure, ports and transportation systems as well. The fact that suppliers have become extremely specialized, making just one component, for example, means that they can become a critical point of failure. It is important to ensure that all the companies in your supply chain are not all in turn sourcing components from a single supplier.
