Vietnam and Korea sign agreement to double the number of flights
Filed in archive News on April 27, 2006
Vietnam and the Republic of Korea have signed an agreement to double the number of flights on the Ho Chi Minh City-Seoul sector from the existing eight flights per week, according to Logistics Management.
The agreement was signed last week in Seoul, and came as part of an agreement on liberalization of passenger and cargo transport signed earlier by the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) and its Republic of Korea counterpart.
The two parties plan to abolish the 300-ton per week cargo transport quota currently in place and will allow the use of both airports to conduct three lights per week to third countries.
By the end of 2008, there will be no restrictions on passenger services between the two countries.
In the first quarter of 2006, Republic of Korea arrivals in Vietnam surged by 60 percent over the same period in 2005.
