Victoria launches supply chain action plan
A new government action plan will keep Victoria at the forefront of the supply chain industry, Treasurer John Brumby says.

Accoring to ATN, the Government has launched the the 2006-2009 Supply Chain Excellence Action Plan in partnership with the transport, distribution and logistics (TDL) industry.

The report, which builds on a plan first launched in 2002, sets out priorities in seven key strategic areas to build the State's competitive capabilities in the supply chain industry. The seven areas are:

* Supply chain efficiencies
* Partnerships
* Business organizational and information systems
* Education and training
* Government and regulation
* Marketing and promotion
* A national industry agenda.

Brumby says Victoria is the only state with a supply chain action plan, including the establishment of a TDL industry roundtable.

"This action plan lays out priorities and targeted initiatives for each of these areas that will be delivered in partnership by government, the TDL roundtable, key industry bodies and other stakeholders," he says.

"It will ensure Victoria keeps thriving and growing as Australia's state of supply chain excellence and gateway of choice and so boost our productivity, business competitiveness and long-term and prosperity."
