I recently saw an interesting news article from Business Wire about using SCM solutions in a children hospital. It said in the articl, that Children's Hospital and Health System, one of the best children's hospital in the U.S. which has won different prizes for excellence in operation, has signed a contract with Medassets, solution provider for healthcare industry, for providing supply chain management solutions.
Jon E. Vice, president and CEO, Children's Hospital and Health System, described the purpose for acquiring this solution as:

MedAssets' technology gives us the ability to better control our purchasing processes and automate purchasing functions to prevent errors and increase efficiencies. Our resources can be used to follow up on errors to reduce costs rather than spending time identifying where errors have occurred. MedAssets' technology cleans our data and provides reporting abilities that will allow us to make more informed decisions to improve the financial health of our organization. It's really interesting to see that using SCM solutions in healthcare industry is growing more and more and so, SCM solution providers would better refine and customize their solutions for healthcare industry because it seems that a growing market is on the way.
