Unisys extends partnership with DHL to Middle East and Africa
Filed in archive Partnerships on May 26, 2006
Technology solutions and services vendor Unisys has selected DHL as it global lead provider for service parts logistics. The new deal, which covers the Middle East, marks the extension of an existing contract between the two companies whereby DHL had provided service parts logistics in Australia, parts of Europe and most of Latin America.
According to ITP Technology, under the terms of the expanded deal, Unisys will also utilize DHL's services for its spare parts logistics in the Middle East and Africa, North America and the Asia-Pacific region.
As part of this process, Unisys will consolidate the movement and repair of equipment parts, which is currently carried out by more than 100 service providers worldwide, into a single comprehensive solution managed by DHL. Unisys reckons that the new streamlined system will benefit clients to whom it provides technology support and maintenance services.
"Working through a lead service parts logistics partner with a global network enhances the services we can provide Unisys customers," said Judith A. List, VP and managing partner, services and solutions, global outsourcing and infrastructure services at Unisys. "In addition, consolidating management of parts logistics can provide operational efficiencies for Unisys while streamlining service delivery for clients."
Unisys has signed a seven-year agreement with DHL and expects to streamline its service delivery model during that period. Unisys also claims that the agreement with DHL will help it achieve its long-term operational objectives: a more variable cost structure, improved operational efficiency and reduced overhead costs.
