Supply chain video: Supply chain in the future (Part 2)
Filed in archive Supply chain video on March 15, 2009
This is the second and the last part of Larry Lapide's talk on future of supply chain. In this video he first mentions the importance of supply chain talent and resources: As the horizon of Supply Chain 2020 at MIT is more than 10 years from now, we should look at the changes in demographics; we should also ask ourselves such questions...Where people will become older? What is the associated cost of that? How do we create a stable flow of supply chain for the U.S.? etc.
He also mentioned the challenge of compliance for supply chain and the fact that sooner or later some entities (it can be countries, UN, or other authorities) may put environmental or emission standards in place and make it obligatory for companies. Therefore, companies not only should look for ways of becoming and remaining compliant in the countries they are operating but also the countries their suppliers are operating.
