Supply chain video: Managing Supply Chain in a Tough Economy (Part 3)
Filed in archive Supply chain video on February 28, 2009
Here comes the third part of the video by Rob Handfield, the Bank of America Professor of Supply Chain Management at North Carolina State University (You can see the first part and second part here & here). Developing customers and paying attention to what is happening to customers as well as customers' customers were among the points he mentioned.
In this part Rob Handfield gives a very interesting example of a local bank in North Carolina which launched a new service called "Supply Chain 360": Through the use of a tool developed internally, the bank analyzes the credit worthiness of companies and fund suppliers' receivables in 15 days instead of 60 days which is now common. This product has taken off...here the bank has taken the role of companies which could use this opportunity not only to help their suppliers but also generate money.
