Supply chain video: Managing Supply Chain in a Tough Economy (Part 1)
Filed in archive Supply chain video on February 22, 2009
We are in tough times where having enough cash really matters! and since supply chain can have a tremendous effect in freeing cash, we should think about the ways we can use to position our supply chain right in the downturn.
One of the great videos which I have seen is from a session last December in McKimmon Center on NC State's campus. Rob Handfield, the Bank of America Professor of Supply Chain Management at North Carolina State University shares and presents preliminary survey results of supply chain managers and the actions they are taking and not taking during this economic downturn.
He highlights some important points like:
- We are in this mess together with our suppliers and buyers so we should work together on this and not alone.
- We should take a step back and look at the whole chain and come up with creative ways of creating value.
- We should have a sense of urgency otherwise we would end up bankrupt in this downturn.
This video is the first part of the presentation; hope you enjoy it!
