Filed in archive Best practice on June 17, 2007
Office supplies giant Staples has received the prestigious 2007 Circle of Excellence Award, conferred by the Distribution Business Management (DBM) Association Board of Universities, for excellence in energy efficiency and cost reduction across its supply chain.
Mark Buckley, Staples' Vice President of environmental affairs, and Donald Ralph, senior vice president of logistics at the company, will accept the award on Staples' behalf at an awards ceremony at the Omni Hotel in Champions Gate, Fla., on June 12.
Referred to as the "good guy" award by The Wall Street Journal, the DBM Association presents the award each year to one company that represents excellence and a strong commitment to the environment in their particular industry.
According to SDCE, the award recipient is chosen by an international panel of judges from the top universities and must meet the following criteria: formal corporate commitment to environmentally responsible programs; demonstration of past and present program results; and plans for continuation of the commitment.
