Shaw selects ODIN technologies to design and install a radio frequency identification (RFID) system
Filed in archive Implementation on November 2, 2006
Carpet and rug company Shaw Industries Group has tapped selected ODIN technologies to design and install a radio frequency identification (RFID) system for supply chain optimization and to also comply with the RFID mandate from retailer Wal-Mart.
According to Supply and Demand Chain Executive, Shaw, which is part of the Berkshire Hathaway portfolio, plans on leveraging RFID technology to solve multiple business issues. "We believe RFID holds great promise to improve our supply chain efficiency and data accuracy," said James Berry, vice president and chief information officer at Shaw. "However, that will only be possible if the tag and reader communication are 100 percent reliable."
Berry said that Shaw would be looking to Odin's physics-based approach and automated services delivery software to deliver reliable RFID network accuracy. "That capability provided us with the confidence that they would deploy the system correctly the first time," Berry added. ODIN will be designing and deploying two RFID systems. The initial deployment will take place in 3 facilities.

that first you learn about barcode readers and automatic identification technology in general and move on to the detailed, yet simple training. I think it would be great for engineering training and supply chain training, also for your supply chain management RFID training. If you simply want to learn as much as possible about RFID without all the complicated math equations and scientific jargon or need refresher training, check it out.”
