Market Overview
by ehsan on May 15, 2006

I saw this interesting feature in Google which gives users the opportunity to compare the frequency of multiple search terms. As you can see, I tried to make a comparison between RFID and supply chain management.
I have three questions and I appreciate if you tell me what you think: Without looking at Google website, what do you think is the reason for the last peak in the RFID curve (the one marked with F)? As you may know, I'm also a contributor to RFID-Weblog and It seems from the graph that RFID is a lot more sexier than SCM (It's actually on the top of hype curve). Should I close this website and go to the other one? Do you think the situation will become better in the future?

Supply chain management is a discipline that isn't going anywhere any time soon, and RFID is still what appears to be an overhyped technology. Thinking long term, supply chain management and third party logistics would probably be the more conservative bet in my opinion.

Just forget about the MANAGEMENT!. Try your search again, but this time input "supply chain" only (+ rfid), and voala!, You'll get two similar curves (oh, oh..Maybe this is what's happening in real life...). So, don't worry ehsan, you can continue with your blog.
Best regards from Chile.
