Oracle's new SCM deal in the MiddleEast
Filed in archive News on June 19, 2007
Oracle has strengthened its resolve in the Middle East by becoming a technology partner for Bahrain Maritime and Mercantile International (BMMI), a logistics and supply chain outfit with annual sales of US$200m.
Oracle will work with IT services partner Satyam Computers to deliver its E-Business suite in a deal worth US$540,000, ITP reported. BMMI claims the software will strengthen its position in the third party logistics arena by enabling improved supply chain management planning and end-to-end execution.
The solutions will give Bahrain-listed BMMI full visibility, management and reporting capability on the performance of each supply chain movement, allowing the company to reduce costs relating to waste and other inefficiencies.
Arun Khehar, VP retail, private and manufacturing at Oracle MEA, said BMMI's demands were vast as the company boasts extensive warehouse operations across the Gulf while its third party logistics units oversee a large number of food and beverage transactions.
