Now it's time to think about CHINDIA...
Filed in archive Point of view on August 11, 2006
I was reading some figures somewhere about the bilateral trade Volume between India and China and the fact that, in the recent years, it has grown astronomically. In 1990, it stood at US$ 260 million, which increased to US$ 7.6 billion in 2003 and US$ 13.6 billion in 2004. In 2008, this figure is expected to touch US$ 20 billion and to US$ 30 billion in 2010.
When you see such things, a series of questions immediately come to the mind: Everybody knows that today China is much more attractive in terms of offshoring and it's also a growing market itself (for fashion products, automobiles, etc.) but will the situation change? What is the optimum manufacturing strategy, china, india or china and india? and if the third one is the case, how?
What do you think?
