The University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is to receive goods needed for diagnostic imaging, such as MRI scanners, as development of the private finance initiative-funded (PFI) project.
The NHS Supply Chain has worked with the UHB team for the past three months to create purchasing processes for the medical equipment needed at the facility.
According to Mikrofax, NHS Supply Chain aims to use its framework contract to procure such items and provide "valuable procurement expertise".
"The support from the team will help us to deliver the procurement project within rigorous PFI timescales," said Andy Harris, head of procurement at UHB NHS Foundation Trust.
The NHS Supply Chain states it aim to provide more than £1 billion in savings for the health service over the next decade.
