New e-commerce & supply chain initiatives in public libraries
Filed in archive Technology
The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) and Book Industry Communication (BIC) In Britain are working together in the launch of a project to promote e-commerce and supply chain efficiencies in the library sector. Funded by MLA, the project will commence with immediate effect and will continue through March 2008.
According to Public Technology, the first task of the steering committee, chaired by BIC board member Martin Palmer will be to appoint consultants to draw up an appropriate and achievable work plan.
The project will work collaboratively with the National Acquisitions Group, CILIP and other library interests. Andrew Stevens, BSBL Programme Manager said "The e4libraries project is an important part of the Better Stock, Better Libraries (BSBL) programme and will focus on how technology and e-commerce can contribute to a more efficient model of purchasing stock."
