My fault: I forgot about human side of supply chain...
Filed in archive Point of view on March 24, 2006
This is a technology website. It usually talks about solutions, new applications of technologies like RFID and managerial news and issues for implementation. But In order get this technologies working, human side is really important. That's my fault that I have not written much about these issues so far.
The important issue which I also saw recently in an article from Jim Pepitone in Industry Week is that, these sorts of "Just Do it" attitudes towards supply chain system implementation doesn't work. You have to motivate your employees to change (which of course it's not easy because of the issues of job security and incentives). So don't be nike in implementation: Motivate your staff and they will Do it for you!

I agree with Jim Pepitone's position. Supply chains have been around a lot longer than supply chain software (consider the logistics of getting a piece of rock from a quarry to King Tut's tomb). Software and supporting technology has merely increased throughput of the supply chain. People are still at the core.
