Lance Inc. has named Blake Thompson vice president in charge of its supply chain, according to a company filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The filing says Thompson was hired Dec. 19. His base salary will be $250,000 and he will be eligible for lance's long-term incentives program.

The Charlotte-based snack producer paid Thompson a $15,000 signing bonus and granted him 15,000 shares of restricted stock and stock options, the filing states.

No information about Thompson's background was provided, and company representatives were unavailable for comment.

It is not clear whether the position is new, although previous company filings don't list anyone as holding the post.
