Following a competitive evaluation process, the Hong Kong-based Kerry Logistics has appointed Viewlocity to implement a major overhaul to its supply chain management platform to enable its customers to manage all the processes across the supply chain with total visibility, Antara reported.

Viewlocity is a provider of supply chain management solutions that increase the operational efficiency of organizations and is an integral part of logistics supply chains worldwide.

Kerry Logistics is one of the key third party logistics service providers in the Asia Pacific region, operating in 15 countries worldwide.

In 2005, Kerry Logistics more than doubled its volume of sea and air cargo handled when compared with 2004.

Greater supply chain visibility is one of the biggest customer issues emerging from the growth in sourcing out of China. Being able to know where in the supply chain a product is, at any time, is a critical business factor, said Mr. Vincent Wong, Joint Managing Director, Kerry Logistics.

"With operations spread around the world, we use a number of different warehouse and transport management systems to track our shipments. However, with the introduction of Viewlocity's Control Tower Platform (CTP) our customers will now have one global view of orders, inventory, shipments and
forecasts. Improving supply chain visibility is one of our key aims over the coming 12 months. With the backing and support of Viewlocity, we are confident we will achieve this well within this timeframe," he said.

Before deciding to implement Viewlocity's CTP, Kerry Logistics evaluated eight vendors in addition to investigating building an in-house solution.
