JDA and i2 merger won't happen
Filed in archive merger and acquisition on December 14, 2008

It seems that the long-time negotiated deal between i2 and JDA regarding acquisition of i2 won't happen at least in the near future.
The negotiations began in August and the companies were soon praised in business press for doing such a deal. According to Managing Automation, at the time, JDA offered to buy i2 for $346 million. But in early November, as i2 shareholders prepared to meet for a vote on the acquisition, JDA pleaded for an adjournment, saying it was having difficulty securing the needed financing. JDA asked i2 officials to return to the bargaining table to negotiate a lower purchase price.
But the idea doesn't seem interesting enough to i2: "i2 is a tremendous company with excellent customers, employees, and a strong financial position with significant cash balances," said Jackson L. Wilson Jr., executive chairman of i2's board of directors, in a statement, "And the company will not walk away empty-handed".
