Jamba Juice Names New Vice President For Supply Chain Management

Apparently Jamba Juice, the producer of healthy blended beverages, juices and good-for-you snacks is undergoing a huge restructuring in its value chain. After appointing a new vice president for product innovation, now it's supply chain turn:
The company announced yesterday the appointment of Greg Schwartz as Vice President, supply chain management, effective July 9, 2007. This newly created position will report directly to CFO Don Breen and develop and execute a global supply chain strategy.
"Jamba is in an active expansion period," said Breen. "Establishing a global sourcing and distribution strategy as well as implementing information technology to support our system will be instrumental to growing our brand. Greg brings a wealth of experience to help Jamba Juice reach its strategic growth goal to be the world's leading source of healthy energy."
According to Business Wire, Mr. Schwartz brings 16 years of global and strategic sourcing, business development and materials management in food, general merchandise and operating supplies areas. He was most recently Vice President, global procurement for Wal-Mart focusing on global sourcing, primarily imports from Asia. Prior to that he spent 7 years with Safeway, Inc. and held several executive and leadership positions including Vice President, strategic sourcing, business development and materials management. Mr. Schwartz also worked with Phillip Morris Companies in their Kraft Food division and held several director, manager and buying positions in the purchasing and packaging area.
Mr. Schwartz received a bachelor degree in Business-Economics and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Illinois, Champaign.
