Is going to green supply chain a money making career path?
Filed in archive Employment on October 28, 2008

Dan Gilmore of SC Digest has written a post about the future of careers in green supply chain. In his point of view, the green movement has a lot of buzz today, someone in such positions may go to lots of conferences and at the end, he/she may save some pennies here and there through energy efficiency and so on but at the end what companies are looking for is hardcore SCM skills.
In his view, these positions are probably good for nice experienced guys at the end of their career who want to relax (Actually I know the guy who is managing these efforts globally at IKEA and he has exactly such a profile).
As I think this is a nice topic for discussion, I wanted to know about your opinions: Do you think a person can make it to VP SCM by starting in sustainability?
