I recently browsed a book by Douglas Long with this title: "International Logistics: global supply chainlinks Management". The book was a quite useful text for everyone interested in the field specially for students of logistics, transportation, and supply chain management students, as well as a reference for international managers.

The book combines the academic aspects of supply chain management with practical issues in an effective way. It also contains many examples which help the reader understand the contents easily.

Based upon his experience in over 120 countries, including private industry, the military, and the United Nations, the author challenges conventional wisdom by discussing the myth of supply chain management and offering penetrating questions on the role of information systems. The book is published by Springer, but there are also some versions translated to other languages which can be obtained.
