Well I have to talk to my boss Torsten about this possibility that I may quit my blogging job and go for truck drivinglinks (I'm just joking!) but the jobs in this market seem really attractive, specially this year... Heavy-duty truck driving made No.18 on Careerbuilder.com's list of the top 25 jobs for 2006 which ranked industries of all kinds based on their need for skilled professionals.

Careerbuilder.com's survey represented eight million new jobs and 40 percent of total job growth over the next decade.

The trucking industry is experiencing a shortage of qualified drivers, according to the American Trucking Association (ATA), which reported in its "U.S. Truck Driver Shortage: Analysis and Forecasts," that the nation is deficient an estimated 20,000 drivers.

The ATA is working on a national campaign to emphasize the value of employment in the trucking industry while also recruiting new professionals. The ATA will preview its new campaign in February at a leadership meeting.
