Future of SCM in Singapore: Q&A (2)
Filed in archive Interviews on May 5, 2006
>(Note: This is the second part of my Q&A with Lauw Kok Keen, Acting Director of the Singapore eSupply Chain Management Council).
SupplyChainer: Where do you see the potentials for expansion in SCM market?
Lauw Kok Keen: There is a strong potential for companies in Singapore to adopt SCM solutions as this is one area where companies can increase productivity and gain a competitive edge. Our Economic development Board has identified supply chain management as one of the key drivers for Singapore manufacturers to maintain its competitiveness. There will be demand for SCM technology and solutions. ASP / on demand solution is also another area where there is development potential.
SupplyChainer: Do you think that RFID will become a de facto standard in Singapore? How long does it take?
Lauw Kok Keen: RFID will become the de facto standard in Singapore as the Government Agencies like our Information Development Authority is actively promoting this technology. It will take another 1 - 2 years for the results of the current pilot projects to show the benefits of adopting RFID and for the prices of RFID tags to come down to a more affordable level for mass adoption.
