Christmas is coming; everybody is happy: The kids are happy because they are going to get lots of presents, parents are happy coz they can rest a bit after that or go on a trip, marketing and sales guys are happy because they are going to sell more! BUT...

It will be a nightmare for logistics and IT guys especially in retail sector because Christmas period is when robustness of the demand management system will be put under a serious test.

Esther Schindler form Slashdot writes: "Every year, there's some retailer whose e-commerce or supply chain fails. And it's a big deal, since the holiday shopping season can make or break their year."

That`s true. In fact, even with the existence of the most sophisticated demand modelling tools, again retail companies miss the sales or end up with lots of inventory, or on e-commerce part fail to deliver products on time.

What can help them? Well nothing really, just hope:)
