Filed in archive Market Overview on July 31, 2009

Armstrong's recent survey "U.S. and Global Third-Party Logistics Market Analysis" has generated a new ranking of 3PL logistics players based on revenue which is quite interesting to review (See the list here).
DHL Supply Chain & Global Forwarding, not surprisingly is on the top of the list with 37,100 (million dollars) and DB Schenker Logistics and Kuehne + Nagel, Inc. are in the second and third place. Apparently the business of 3PL hasn't been affected by crisis as in value-added warehousing 3PLs, 57 percent are reporting increased net revenues. Automotive and retail vertical industries were the main drags on 3PL market growth for 2009, with projected revenues down 32 percent and 23 percent respectively. The food and grocery vertical and 3PL returns management sub-segment are up for the year. GENCO, Kenco, and New Breed expect revenues to increase in 2009.
