Common approaches for supply chain visibility in pharma sector
Filed in archive General on July 31, 2009

Supply Chain Visibility initiatives have been in the center of attention in pharma sector for a number of year and after some years of experience, a number of common practices have been shaped. The pharma players have different motivations for using such methods but among the more important ones are reducing the risk of counterfeits, safety and supply chain cost. Below you can find the list of some which I have seen here and there:
- Regular test and examination of the products in the wholesale channel.
- Serialization of the products with specific logic in mind (which makes you able to identify the counterfeits)
- Using new packaging technologies.
- Radio Frequency and E-Pedigree
What other approaches have you seen? Your comments are welcomed.
