"Canada in the Balance" is the theme of Bob
Rae's opening keynote address at the Annual Supply Chain Management Conference of the Ontario Institute of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (OIPMAC) that kicks off on Friday, October 13, 2006, at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre, Mississauga, Ontario.
According to News Wire, Ontario's 21st Premier (1990 to 1995) and Liberal Party leadership front-runner, the Honourable Robert Keith Rae's presentation will address the global economic and political challenges and opportunities ahead for Canada.
Mr. Rae will take an insightful look at how Canada can solidify its leadership
as a just and moral society while spreading its world view, values and vision
regarding poverty reduction and improving the quality of life around the
globe. Rae will also speak on key foreign policy issues including what Canada
and Canadians should be aware of and prepare for in terms of the medium to
long-range socio-political and economic implications for Canada, including the
current wave of anti-U.S. sentiment prevalent globally, with a discussion on
how Canada must respond to these concerns.
Rae was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2000. His recent
review for the Ontario Provincial government of Ontario's Postsecondary School
Education and his report Ontario: A Leader in Learning led to significant
policy and budgetary change. Rae's appointment in 2005, as special advisor to
the Canadian Minister of Public Safety on the Air India bombing of 1985, led
to his being appointed Independent Counsellor to the Prime Minister of Canada
and Chair of the Air India Inquiry and review.
