Asos supply chain chief quits
Online fashion retailer Asos supply chain director Greg Conway resigned yesterday following the company's decision to outsource the running of its distribution centre to Unipart Logistics.

Unipart, which specialises in managing complete supply chains, will take over the running of Asos distribution centre in Hemel Hempstead shortly.

Conway resigned because he could not compete with the service levels offered by Unipart.

Asos chief executive nicklinks Robertson said: "This agreement with Unipart Logistics is absolutely the right move for Asos. We remain confident about the prospects for Asos and it is vital our logistical capabilities keep pace with our own growth forecasts."

Seymour Pierce analyst Rhys Williams added: "We do regard the signing of a distribution partner as positive news with the company bringing in a professional firm to run the complex back office, leaving Asos management to concentrate on the performance of the front office."
