Again this little chip: RFID and Supply Chain
Filed in archive Technology on January 28, 2008
One of the last week's news was about expansion of Alien Technology's RFID system within Daisy Brand's distribution centers in Texas and Arizona.
Daisy Brand which started its program in the year 2005 has been using the technology for the purpose of inventory tracking.
All the data regarding the pallets, forklifts and the movements are transmitted into the erp system and at end, the new system provides the company with nice capabilities: For example, having sell-by date information stored in the ERP, when a truck arrives to pick up a load, the system notifies the driver if he is picking up the proper pallet.
It was a long time that I hadn't heard something interesting on RFID; so it's good to hear that the companies are still continuing their efforts.
