Again that acquisition game...
Filed in archive Market Overview on September 27, 2005

Recently, Oracle announced that it will buy G-Log, a privately held developer of supply chain software.
G-Log, based in King of Prussia, is a medium size company, with about 175 employees but it has some big famous customers including Halliburton, DuPont and Volvo.
When I heared about this acquisition, I remembered a series of events some years ago regarding acquisitions in ERP vendor market. It seems that this is going to be the same for SCM.
Oracle and other vendors, striving to take as much of the SAP's marketshare as they can, are buying small copmanies to become bigger in the area extend their solution features.
I'm not quite sure about whether this may lead to a price war in the future or not, but I'm sure that at the end, customers will benefit because of the enhanced and improved capabilities of the solutions.
